Coastal Wedding with Whimsical Florals at Wychmere Beach Club

We loved planning Erin and Kevin’s laidback coastal wedding at Wychmere Beach Club! The two share the sweetest love story, beginning when they were both students at UNC Chapel Hill. Kevin was Erin’s blind date to a sorority event, and they formed a tight-knit friendship that lasted through college and into their working lives. In 2016, they finally began dating while Erin resided in Austin and Kevin in Chicago. Several years of long distance followed before Erin joined Kevin in the Windy City in 2019!

It wasn’t long before Kevin pulled off a surprise proposal on the roof of their apartment, with a bit of help from friends. He created a video montage of their relationship, set it to music, and played it on a homemade projection screen before popping the question. Needless to say, Erin’s answer was yes!

Wedding Weekend at Wychmere Beach Club

Erin and Kevin’s wedding celebration was a two-day affair in mid-September. On the 9th, they were officially married in an intimate wedding mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Harwich. Our favorite detail was Erin’s dress, which was her mother’s wedding gown! The high lace neckline was perfect for the sacred setting, while an all-white bouquet of roses, ranunculus, and dahlias tied the look together. The couple’s closest family and friends attended the ceremony, followed by a private dinner at Chillingsworth.

Then, on the 10th, the couple invited all their loved ones to join them for their secular ceremony and reception at Wychmere Beach Club. The couple wanted the day to feel elegant without feeling stuffy for a laidback coastal vibe. They opted for a color scheme of white and dusty blue with pops of pink and green for an aesthetic that was quintessentially Cape Cod. Erin’s wedding party wore matching blue gowns, while Kevin’s looked dapper in black tuxedos. Bouquets of white and blush roses—with blooms of pink dahlia and blue delphinium to accent Erin’s—rounded out the palette.

The floral design for the day was a top priority for Erin and Kevin, and Botanique of Cape Cod didn’t disappoint! The lush arrangements at the couple’s ceremony and reception made the celebration feel truly magical and tied in perfectly with the surrounding landscape. The couple’s ceremony arch, twined around a wooden pergola, was showstopping. Spider mums, hydrangeas, roses, and dahlias stood out atop luxurious swaths of greenery in shades of blush, fuchsia, blue, and white. Meanwhile, scattered petals filled the aisle for an unmistakable air of romance.

Later, at the couple’s reception, stems of blue and purple delphinium took center stage. Tall glass vases elevated the arrangements from the surface of each table, set with blue muslin linens, vintage goblets, and taper candles. The look was playful and elegant while remaining in tune with the natural setting. Accents of driftwood and miniature bud vases with roses and hydrangeas made a charming finishing touch.
